Stephen Strange was a brilliant neurosurgeon, but after an accident that damaged the nerves in his hands, he traveled East seeking treatment and became the apprentice of the Ancient One. He became Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme, basing himself in the Sanctum Sanctorum in New York with his partner Wong. Early in his superhero career, he fought enemies like Nightmare and Baron Mordo in secret, allied with Spider-Man, and joined the Avengers in major battles including the fight against Thanos wielding the Infinity Gauntlet.
