Tamagotchi

To Tamagotchi είναι ένα μικρό φορητό ηλεκτρονικό κατοικίδιο, σχήματος αυγού, και πωλείται από την εταιρεία Bandai. Είναι δημιούργημα των Ιαπώνων Akihiro Yokoi της WiZ και Aki Maita Bandai το 1996. Πωλήθηκε πρώτη φορά από τη Bandai στην Ιαπωνία στις 23 Νοεμβρίου του 1996. Μέχρι το 2010, περισσότερα από 76 εκατομμύρια Ταμαγκότσι πωλήθηκαν παγκοσμίως. Σύμφωνα με τη Bandai, η λέξη "Tamagotchi" προέρχεται από την ιαπωνική λέξη "たまご" (tamago) που σημαίνει "αυγό" και την αγγλική λέξη "watch" που σημαίνει "ρολόι". Το κανονικό όνομα τού Ταμαγκότσι στην Ιαπωνία είναι Tamagotch.

The tamagotchi has three buttons (A, B and C) with which it can perform the following basic functions:

• Feeding the tamagotchi.
• You play games and do various activities with the tamagotchi.
• Cleaning the tamagotchi.
• Control the character's age, mischief, hunger and happiness.
• Communicate with other Tamagotchi via infrared.

The longest confirmed lifespan of a tamagotchi is 145 human days. Of course after the virtual death of a tamagotchi the story starts from the beginning and a new egg appears in the device.
