Tomura Shigaraki is the main antagonist of My Hero Academia, chosen as the successor to the world’s most dangerous villain, All For One. While Shigaraki initially shows complete loyalty, over time he begins to seek autonomy and freedom, ultimately rejecting his master's control and declaring that he wants to destroy the world on his own terms.

Shigaraki’s real name is Tenko Shimura, the grandson of Nana Shimura, mentor of All Might. As a child, he suffered from emotional abuse and suppression of his feelings, especially from his father. When his Quirk awakened uncontrollably, he accidentally killed his entire family, leaving him deeply scarred. Instead of receiving help, society turned its back on him, and All For One found him at his lowest. This tragic background forged him into a symbol of destruction, filled with hatred for the world that abandoned him.

Shigaraki and Deku represent two opposing paths: one shaped by love, support, and heroism, the other by loss, hatred, and abandonment. While Deku grows under the guidance of mentors like All Might, Shigaraki is molded by All For One, with the goal not to save but to destroy. Both inherit legacy Quirks (One For All and All For One, respectively), but they use them with opposite intentions. They are mirror images of each other—sharing similar origins but shaped by drastically different ideologies.
